Musethica Premieres in Brandenburg

From June 7th to 15th, Musethica visited the German state of Brandenburg for the very first time. The chamber music festival took place as part of the Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte and in cooperation with the Kulturstiftung Schloss Wiepersdorf.

The participating ensembles were the Beija-flor String Quartet from Austria, joining a Musethica Session for the first time, and Ensemble Finale from Israel, returning for their second Musethica week. They were joined by tutors Konstanze von Gutzeit (violoncello) and Avri Levitan (viola).

22 Concerts in 7 Days

In just one week, the musicians performed 19 concerts in social institutions and gave three public concerts, including one in Berlin. All the institutions – including special needs kindergardens, senior residences in Jüterbog and Herzberg (Elster), the Luckau-Duben correctional facility, a hospice, and a transitional housing facility in Luckenwalde – hosted Musethica for the first time and welcomed the musicians with warmth and enthusiasm.

The Kastanienschule Jüterbog even published an excited article in their school newspaper the very same day, and the Johanniter Senior Center announced a feature in their internal magazine. The most frequently asked question from audiences: “When will you come back?”

Special thanks go to the Kulturstiftung Schloss Wiepersdorf, which hosted the musicians in a beautiful and peaceful setting in the heart of the Brandenburg countryside. With fresh, regional, and sustainable meals and a serene atmosphere, the Schloss offered the perfect conditions for focused rehearsals and intensive learning. Leisure time was also well spent – with bike rides through the woods and evening table tennis tournaments providing the perfect balance of fun and relaxation.

The final concert also took place at Schloss Wiepersdorf. On a beautiful summer afternoon, the ensembles performed top-level chamber music together with their tutors – a fitting close to a rich and rewarding week.

For the public concert in Dahme/Mark, we received outstanding local support from the Amt Dahme/Mark and the Rock & Rhythmen e.V. association. The open-air venue at the Dahme Schlossruine created an unforgettable concert experience in a truly unique setting.

In Berlin, we were once again welcomed at the Mendelssohn Remise for our public performance. Despite the summer heat, the hall was filled to capacity – extra chairs had to be added to accommodate the enthusiastic audience. A long round of standing ovations closed the evening.

Promoting Cultural Diversity Through Music

This chamber music festival was part of the EU-funded project 1000+ Concerts: Innovating Higher Music Education for Social Inclusion and also supported the work of the German Commission for UNESCO on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. Adopted in 2005, this legally binding international agreement protects cultural diversity and the rights of artists worldwide – core values that Musethica embodies in every session.
