Musethica Session at mdw Vienna

From June 21st to 28th, 2025, the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna hosted a Musethica session featuring intensive chamber music rehearsals, concerts in social institutions and a public final concert. Led by violist and Musethica Artistic Director Avri Levitan, the session brought together Teresa Wakolbinger (Violin) and Zofia Sikora (Cello) who performed in a variety of social contexts such as care homes, facilities for people with disabilities and shelters. The social concerts included institutions like Wiener Gesundheitsverbund, Rotes Kreuz, WUK work space and others.

These encounters offered both audiences and performers a unique and emotional experience, highlighting Musethica's mission to bring high-level chamber music to all parts of society.

On June 26th, Avri Levitan led the seminar “The Art of Practising” at the mdw and had a great dialog with musicians of the mdw and music teachers from Vienna. The seminar offered valuable impulses on practice strategies and if we are even practicing correctly. Participants also gained a deeper understanding of how the brain learns and adapts through practice.

The session concluded with a public concert on June 28th in the Fanny Hensel Hall, featuring works by J. S. Bach, N. Paganini, E. Dohnányi and others. The audience of the public concert was enthusiastic about the solo performances and the chamber music. This year, the mdw was once again pleased to welcome several attendees from the social institutions to the final concert.
