Musethica in Warsaw: March 2025

As part of the 2025 edition of the international Musethica project “1000+ Concerts”, talented young instrumentalists visited hospitals, special education schools, support centers, and long-term care facilities. Alongside musicians from the 13th Sinfonia Varsovia Academy, participants of the Musethica International project also joined. The spring concert series, which took place from March 11th to 15th, was led by Sinfonia Varsovia concertmaster Jakub Haufa. Two of the concerts were open to the general public:one on March 12th at the Kicia Kocia café-club, and the final concert on March 15th at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.

Each Musethica session consists of intensive workshops during which participants work with a tutor on selected repertoire and the communicative aspects of their interpretations. This is followed by a series of concerts for special audiences: people who often have limited or no access to classical music performances. The close interaction between young musicians and listeners allows both sides to share impressions and emotions after the concert. Musethica demonstrates that music is, above all, a language of emotions and a means of communication accessible to everyone.

The March concert programme included selected movements from Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s String Octet in E-flat major, Op. 20, Edward Elgar’s Serenade in E minor, Op. 20, and Mieczysław Karłowicz’s Serenade in C major, Op. 2, arranged for string octet.

Performing alongside Sinfonia Varsovia concertmaster Jakub Haufa were:
Hanna Grozik, Anna Toporkiewicz-Muras, Marta Tryzna (violin),
Wiktoria Błaszczak, Emanuel Ogrodniczek (viola),
Alice Abram, Beltrán Calderón (violoncello)
